We have the following two offers for our S1300 customers: While we support our scanner products for several years after their last shipment, we are not able to provide support indefinitely due to the changes made by the OS manufacturer. If you upgrade your computer OS to Apple’s new 64-bit Mojave or Catalina, your ScanSnap S1300 may not work any longer. We are reaching out to advise you of changes coming that may impact the operation of the ScanSnap S1300 scanner model. Thank you for being a loyal ScanSnap customer.

I called Fujitsu about all of this, and found that one can purchase a new S1300i for a few dollars more than the cost of third party software:
