

Since the success of Adele 21, Adele has continued to win awards and in 2013 she received her first Academy Award (as well as a Golden Glob Award and a Grammy Award) for her composition of the James Bond theme 'Skyfall'. Adele 21 and Adele herself has won many records listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Adele's album 21 holds many distinctions including holding the top position on the carts longer than any album in the USA since 1985. Amazingly the album went on to surpassed the incredible success of her debut album 19 and won Adele a record six Grammy Awards, Two Brit awards and three American Music Awards. In early 2011, Adele released her second studio album called 'Adele 21'. Adele and her record 19 won the awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the Grammy Awards that same year. The album is certified double platinum in the United Sates of America as well as certified four times platinum in the UK. It was a massive success both commercially and critically and was the first time Adele fans all over the world heard her unique songwriting and beautiful voice. Her first album was titled 19 after the age she was when the record was released in 2008. Only one year later Adele received theBrit Awards 'Critics' Choice' award as well as the BBC Sound of 2008. Adele's first record contract was with XL Recordings after she was discovered after one of her friends posted her demo on Myspace earlier that year. Adele is a 2006 graduate of the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in 2006. Adele Laurie Blue Adkins was born May 5th 1988 in the United Kingdom.
